Immigration New Zealand has issued a warning about recent phone scams targeting visa holders. The scammers, claiming to be from ‘The Immigration Bureau,’ inform recipients of a supposed “serious problem with your visa” and instruct them to press specific numbers for English or Chinese services. Immigration New Zealand clarifies that these calls are not genuine and advises recipients not to engage further. The scams aim to identify individuals for potential future exploitation or fraud. Anyone receiving such calls is urged to report them to New Zealand’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT NZ) and seek reassurance about their visa status by contacting the official Immigration New Zealand Service Centre.
