Former Sri Lanka cricketer Sachithra Senanayake has been arrested on charges related to match-fixing. Senanayake is accused of attempting to fix matches during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in 2020. The arrest comes after he surrendered to the Special Investigation Unit of the Sports Ministry. Earlier, a travel ban had been imposed on Senanayake in August 2023 as part of an investigation into match-fixing allegations. Senanayake has denied all the allegations and considers them baseless charges aimed at defaming him and his family. He has represented Sri Lanka in one Test, 49 ODIs, and 24 T20 Internationals between 2012 and 2016.
