A scrapyard fire in Favona, South Auckland, has caused toxic smoke, prompting a warning for residents in the area. Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) responded to the fire early in the morning, finding a large pile of scrap car parts ablaze. It is expected that the fire will be extinguished overnight. FENZ has advised people in ลŒtฤhuhu, particularly, to stay indoors with doors and windows closed to avoid the smoke. Auckland Transport had to temporarily halt train services due to the smoke affecting their control center, causing delays. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and there have been no reported injuries.
