King Charles III’s coronation will take place on May 6th at Westminster Abbey, where he will become the 40th monarch to be crowned in London. The guest list includes 2000 people and is decided by the British government as the event is funded by taxpayers. The ceremony is expected to last about an hour, and the cost of the security bill will be high. However, Charles is aware of the cost of living crisis in Britain and the world and wants the monarchy to reflect this in being pared down. Despite that, the event will still be a “monumental occasion” with a big coronation concert at Windsor Castle on May 7 featuring various stars such as Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Andrea Bocelli. The coronation quiche is the official dish for the coronation and features spinach, broad beans and fresh tarragon, and people are encouraged to make it for the coronation ‘big lunch’.
