In the past week, New Zealand has reported 4666 new cases of Covid-19 and 20 additional deaths attributed to the virus. Among the new cases, 3865 were probable cases and 3012 were reinfections. Currently, there are 55 cases in hospital, with no information available on intensive care units. The seven-day rolling average of new cases stands at 667 per day. Health authorities have announced the availability of a new Covid-19 vaccine starting from 7 March, targeting specific age groups and those at higher risk of severe illness. Free rapid antigen tests (RATs) will continue to be available until at least the end of June.
